CurT@!n$ Trace Mag Interview...

CurT@!n$
Hometown: Brooklyn NYC
AGE: 24
LABEL: High Society Life INC

KS: Some of your fans may not know but, this is not your first go round. Give people the run down about your story thus far.
C: My first major look was the Source “Unsigned Hype.” Back then to have Unsigned Hype was like Whoooaf. You know what I’m saying, I was probably 15, 16 OR 17 around there when I had, I was still in high school. So that started my “BUZZ” the media blimp started, I dropped the mixtape “Young Brooklyn VOL 1″ which you know totally took me to another level; then Vol 2 was the big one. MTV mixtape of the week; Source mixtape of the month. I got a tour off that mixtape. I went on tour with 50 cent and G-Unit; so that just built my buzz and brand even more. And then I took a break for a minute and came back with the “Rebel Radio” so no they getting to know me again. One more time I’m getting new fans and catching up with new fans.

CurT@!n$ + Complex Magazine Interview...

When Kanye West calls you a genius of fashion, you should expect people to start checking out what you’re all about. Which is exactly what happened when ‘Ye co-signed Brooklyn-based rapper Curt@!n$‘ out-of-the-box style sense. It’s not all about the clothes, though. Behind the denim jackets and label-heavy attire, Curt@!n$ is a slick-rhyming MC who has established himself as an Internet favorite over the past few years.
Besides releasing e-acclaimed mixtapes, he’s steadily cranked out impressive videos that are always a topic of conversation throughout the blogosphere. Just yesterday, he released a well-produced video for his conscious-thinking song “Black Folks,” a good holdover until he drops his latest mixtape The Great Adventures of DoPE Boy C: Dope for President on June 16th. When Curt@!n$ came through the Complex office a few weeks ago, we put him through the Complex 7 cipher and also spoke to him about fellow trendsetters Kanye and Lupe…

The Veritas RS III...

Sick...

German company Vermot AG has released the first example of their Veritas RS III model, an open cockpit supercar that pays homage to 1940’s BMW racing. The aim of the Veritas was to provide the truest, least diluted driving experience possible. To do so, the designers kept weight to a minimum through the use of carbon fiber and Kevlar body panels and accommodations for the driver only. Power comes from a choice of two BMW M-sourced powertrains- either a 480 horsepower V8 or a 600 horsepower V10. The relatively low curb weight paired with the powerful, high-revving engines makes for impressive performance numbers: 60 mph comes in three seconds flat and top speed breaches the 200 mph mark. The Veritas is expected to retail for about $375,000, with only 50 cars planned for production. Keep an eye out for its official debut on July 22nd at this year’s London Salon Prive.

Murakami...

The most comprehensive retrospective to date of the work of internationally acclaimed Japanese artist Takashi Murakami includes more than ninety works in various media that span the artist’s entire career, installed in more than 18,500 square feet of gallery space.

Born in Tokyo in 1962, Murakami is one of the most influential and acclaimed artists to have emerged from Asia in the late twentieth century, creating a wide-ranging body of work that consciously bridges fine art, design, animation, fashion, and popular culture. He received a Ph.D. from the prestigious Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, where he was trained in the school of traditional Japanese painting known as Nihonga, a nineteenth-century mixture of Western and Eastern styles. However, the prevailing popularity of anime (animation) and manga (comic books) directed his interest toward the art of animation because, as he has said, “it was more representative of modern day Japanese life.” American popular culture in the form of animation, comics, and fashion are among the influences on his work, which includes painting, sculpture, installation, and animation, as well as a wide range of collectibles, multiples, and commercial products.
